Press Play: Leggy

todayJanuary 29, 2016

Ohio based group, Leggy, has amassed quite the following recently due to a pair of well received EPs. That following is sure to grow when music fans learn of their third EP, Dang, which became available in early January, 2016.

Leggy is an alternative rock trio who formed in Cincinnati. The group is comprised of Veronique Allaer as lead vocalist and guitar player, Kerstin Bladh on bass and Christopher Campbell on drums. Their sound is best described as that of lo-fi surf punk and garage rock with a dream pop edge.

Their newest EP, Dang, contains four, excellent tracks, that will fill you with energy and have you swaying back and forth – in the least. These four songs are surfy, distorted, have catchy lyrics, are full of slick guitar riffs, rough drums and strong bass strokes. All of these characteristics are apparent on the track “Waisted”, which is probably our Music Director’s favorite song from the album. While the entire EP is played in an extremely fast pace, “Bruises” is the fastest track and it is furious. The songs “Bruises” and “Backyard” are receiving heavy airplay on 91.3.

Leggy is one of those groups who thrive on touring. They’ve been all over the US and know this is the best way to create a following like the one they’re beginning to have. One touring location the rock trio likes to hit is that of Oklahoma. Last July, Leggy performed at the Center of the Universe Festival, a yearly summer event that attracts hundreds of artists to downtown Tulsa. Two RSU Radio employees were in attendance for that show and will attest that Leggy is a group to see live. Their shows are raw, passionate and high octane. For proof of that, check out this performance at SXSW

Since their appearance at the Center of the Universe Festival, Leggy has already been back to Tulsa once, and have two shows planned for Oklahoma in late March. On March 23rd, they have a show at the Soundpony in Tulsa and will be at the Power House in OKC the following day. If you have any interest in getting out those nights, Leggy’s performance is the place to be and will surely make for a memorable evening.
