todayMay 6, 2016

Ramble Jon Krohn can be summed up in four words: a mountaineer of music. Who is Ramble Jon Krohn? Listeners know him better as RJD2. RJD2 released his newest album Dame Fortune March 25, 2016. It shows off his expertise and experience more than any creative work he has produced thus far.

RJD2 has been making music since 1993. Although,  he did not release his first album Deadringer until almost a decade later. Time and patience were the ingredients for success in this artist climb to the top. Deadringer, which released in 2002, initiated an avalanche of new and creative contributions in the landscape of hip hop. RJD2 did not venture into the daunting task of climbing to the peak alone. He ensured his arrival at the summit by enlisting veteran artists like Blueprint, Copywrite, and Jakki da Motamouth. RJD2’s momentum increased with the release of his second album Since We Last Spoke. Later in 2006 he would collaborate with Aceyalone to help with his third album Magnificent City.

It was five albums later when RJD2 would climb closer to the peak of his career. In 2006, he wrote the theme song for the hit show Mad Men. His song “A Beautiful Mine” unlocked a new audience for the rising producer. As his notoriety grew, his sound and ability followed suit. His newest album Dame Fortune demonstrates the explicit evolution that has come from time, patience and endurance. Starting at the bottom of his dream to create hip hop, RJD2 has now reached the summit where his new horizons incorporate soul, jazz, and funk.

Dame Fortune can be described as a mountain of hard work, collaboration, and creativity. Its mountaineer RJD2 used his tools of ingenuity to hoist himself and his sound to a higher elevation. Dame Fortune is a snow storm that is sure to shower listener’s imaginations, and lay a powdery foundation of inspiration for rising producers to mold into a new creation.
